About the LEEDR project

Understanding energy and digital media practice in the home

New research methodologies will be developed to integrate engineering and social science techniques. These methodologies will lead to an improved understanding of householders' perspectives in terms of their emotions, values and their use of digital media, as related to energy practices and the potential to assist in the reduction of energy consumption.

Designing intervention strategies

An iterative design approach will be applied to develop the interventions. Householders will participate in interviews and workshop based activities. The developed technologies will be implemented and evaluated for short and long term impact and their commercial viability. It is anticipated that a new framework for designing successful intervention methods will result.

Future landscaping

The development of household personas will be used to inform future scenarios. These scenarios will be used to evaluate how practices may change in response to future technological and legislative drivers, looking forward to 2050.
